Milton Keynes Bus Service changes
Bus Service Change from 25th April 2010 including new timetables
Arriva (Previously MK Metro) have been carrying out a detailed review of their commercial local bus services in Milton Keynes and will be introducing the new network on 25 April 2010.
It is intended that the end result will be a more effective bus network for the borough with improved early morning and evening services to/from Central Rail Station, improved frequencies on the main services, improved frequencies on Sundays, and consistent routes for services across the day. Arriva and Milton Keynes Council have been working together to ensure that there is consistency, as far as possible, between the subsidised and commercial services.

Oxford High Street stop revised due to Roadwork’s
I am sorry for the short notice, but during the switch over of phases on the High Street roadwork’s today, it has become apparent to us that stop L1 cannot be reopened as planned without having a severe impact on the traffic in the High Street.
Red pin shows temp stop
Therefore we need to postpone the reopening until the end of the works in this area which is scheduled to be the 6th May 2010.
Therefore can you revert back to the following stops please.
280 & U1 – Use Bonn Square temporary arrangement.
Oxford roadwork’s update

From first bus, Friday 26th March, the section of High street re-construction between Turl Street and Oriel Street will be completed and the bus stops at Carfax will re-open meaning service 280 can return to normal, including stopping at High street stop L1, adjacent to Turl street, to pick up. The last section of High Street re-construction will then begin – the section between Oriel Street and Old bank Hotel will the begin, again single line working controlled by temporary traffic lights and this will last until 6th May, but the 280 stops will not be affected.

Where will the Busway go?

The Busway will travel between Luton, Dunstable and Houghton Regis in both directions.
Map of route below, click on image to enlarge.
The main part of the Busway network will be the specially constructed guideway from Houghton Regis to Dunstable and Luton town centres and then will travel on roads to London Luton Airport, via Luton Airport Parkway Station.
Future extensions
Once the first phase of the Busway is up and running, we will carefully monitor the service to ensure that it meets the travel needs of local people. We will then consider other services.
Whilst an extension of the guideway to Leighton Buzzard is unlikely because some sections of the old railway line which ran on from Dunstable to Leighton Buzzard have been built over, existing express bus services to Leighton Buzzard and Milton Keynes will be able to use the Busway within Luton and Dunstable.
Much of the ability to deliver the new growth area (43,000 new houses and 26,000 new jobs) is based on the provision of the Busway. Major developments proposed as part of the emerging Core Strategy for the Luton and South Bedfordshire Growth Area can be served by public transport through potential extensions to the Busway infrastructure.

Major roadwork’s in Aylesbury to finish on 14th March 2010
All,
With effect from Sunday 14th March, 2010, the suspended normal schedule for Aylesbury will re-commence operation and the emergency schedules in place since 10th January will cease.
The major road works at Elmhurst Road/Weedon Road/Horse & Jockey junction will conclude at 20:00 on Friday12th March but the emergency schedule will operate on Saturday 13th March just in case there is a slight overrun.
Thus the emergency contract with Bucks CC for the additional 2 buses on the 4 and 9 will finish with the last day being Saturday 13th March. The 4 and 9 will therefore resume the normal timetable with cross-town operation.
Richmond Road Aylesbury
On Friday 5th March, Richmond Road on service 9 will be closed for re-surfacing, thus RR9 will need to divert.
From first bus until 1530 ex Bus station and Welbeck Avenue, RR9 will operate direct via Tring Road in both directions, observing ALL bus stops.
Thus Richmond Road, Broughton Avenue, Narbeth Drive and Barnsbury avenue will not have any service that day until after 1530.
Can we please advertise this on the website? Lynne can you do a notice please and run about 12 off and we can put these on the RR9 buses on Monday night to give passengers due notice.
John/Jerry – I know there are a lot of bus stops involved [about 16 I think] but is there a possibility we can a get a notice on them as soon as possible?
Thanks
